Ironwood has several options for you to participate in either a 9-hole league, a Saturday morning choose-up with a tournament schedule or both. The 9-hole league has its own handicap system and the 18-Hole Saturday Choose-up uses the new World Handicap System.
9-Hole Men’s League at Ironwood
The 9-hole men’s league will begin mid-April with a meeting for new participants and conclude mid-October with a fall banquet. The League will consist of 6 divisions: 3 divisions on Monday & 3 divisions on Thursday. Each division will have a maximum of 20 teams. The league will have a 5:45, 6:00, & 6:15 pm shotgun each week with teams made-up of 3 – 5 players. Two players from your team will participate in a net best-ball match against another team. Your team decides who plays for your team each week but at least two players must participate. Team members not participating in the match are still encouraged to come out and participate in a weekly best-ball game, skins, and closest to the pin game for $5.00 per person.
Fees
Team fees include the 17 weeks of best ball, skins, and closest to the pin. The team fees are $475.00 per team regardless of how many team members you have. All fees collected will be paid back out to the league through regular season payouts, playoff winners, fall banquet and fund the weekly best ball, skins & closest to the pin games. Weekly green fees for golf and cart are $33.00 each night you play in the league.
Rules
The Ironwood Men’s League follows the rules of golf unless specified before the round. i.e. lift clean and place, rake and place in bunkers, etc.
- Out of Bounds – Re Hit from your previous shot, there is no option to play as a lateral hazard, if you take a drop you are out of the hole.
- Scoring – You are playing a two person best ball match, you and your partner vs. your opponents handicapped best ball. If you are out of the hole you can pick up and take an X. This will be converted to a double bogey for handicapping purposes. Please mark an X for anyone picking up on a hole. Failure to do so could result in loss of a hole after handicap is applied. If everyone is screwing up a hole play it out and put actual scores on the scorecard. We encourage you to score the match, but it is not necessary as the program will do it when scores are entered. Contact Scott or Jason for scoring questions.
- Scorecard – The official men’s league scorecard is used for scoring. If you are not comfortable scoring the match give to someone in the group who is. This is the official card, please review the card before turning in. Once turned in the card is official and may not be changed.
- Pace of Play – Men’s League matches should be finished in 2:00 – 2:15 hours. If your group falls behind you may have to skip a hole and tie that hole.
- Best Ball Game – In addition to the match, there is a two man best ball game. Players get their full handicap for this game. Weekly results can be found on the men’s league website available here: Men’s League Website Login
- Payouts – Skins are paid out in cash, best ball and closest to the pin are paid in pro shop credit.
- Subs – If you need a sub, please select below to request a sub. There is no penalty for using a sub unless no one from your team shows up. In that case your team will receive zero points for the week.
- Playoffs – No subs allowed in the playoffs. You must have 3 league rounds to be eligible for the playoffs (prior year ok).
