Ironwood ladies leagues are active golf leagues made up of all skill levels with the purpose to promote interest in the game of golf. Ladies who enjoy playing golf in a relaxed setting are welcome and encouraged to join. For 2020 we have two options, a Tuesday 18-hole morning league and a Wednesday night 9-hole league. Below are the details.
Tuesday Morning 18-Hole League
Ironwood Golf Club offers an 18-hole ladies club on Tuesday mornings. The Tuesday Morning Ladies League will consist of two choose-up formats and tournaments throughout the year and concluding in September. Choose-up formats will have a shotgun start and tournaments will utilize tee-times (typical start time is 8:30 AM). Choose-up game #1 is a best 3 balls of 4 net stableford point system. Choose-up game #2 is a 3-person blind draw (you don’t and can’t play with your partners). If there are 24 players in the choose-up that day, the person with low net receives 24 points, 2nd low net receives 23 points… Add up the points for all four people on your team. The team with the highest point total is the winner. The USGA Handicap is required to participate in the ladies club. Wednesday Working Gals 9-Hole League
Shotgun Start at 5:30 p.m. (Pace of Play Guidelines)
The Working Gals Golf League is a Wednesday night league that runs May-September and open to ladies of all ages and skill levels Play begins each Wednesday evening with a 5:30 shotgun start. Foursomes and games are organized each week by two volunteer Co-Chairs.
The three goals of the Working Gals Golf League are: 1) Have fun and enjoy the camaraderie of both old and new friends; 2) Understand and practice the rules and etiquette of the sport; and 3) Improve skills and scores.
Ladies play with the same partner each week, but the foursomes vary. This format allows golfers to meet different members from the league, compete equitably for prizes, and play with golfers of various skill levels. Ladies joining for the first time may choose to find their own partner or to have one assigned. Becoming a member of the Working Gals Golf League is a weekly commitment. Members are expected to play as many Wednesdays as possible. If you are unable to play, members are asked to notify one of the Co-Chairs by 9 a.m. on Wednesdays. Foursomes are set by noon.
Some golf experience and knowledge is encouraged. If you are brand new to golf, we would suggest contacting Ironwood’s awesome teaching professional, Jan Kleiman, at firstname.lastname@example.org
. Besides teaching you golf skill fundamentals, she can help you with basic rules and how to manage around the golf course. We’d also encourage experienced golfers to reach out to Jan to help shave some strokes off your scorecard!
Registration is $75 and covers the cost of food for the Opening and Closing Banquets, a Taco Night, weekly prizes, end of season awards, and a few small giveaways. You will pay the course directly for your green fees, drinks, and food other than the above.
