Ironwood ladies leagues are active golf leagues made up of all skill levels with the purpose to promote interest in the game of golf. Ladies who enjoy playing golf in a relaxed setting are welcome and encouraged to join. For 2019 we have two options, a Tuesday 18-hole morning league and a Wednesday night 9-hole league. Below are the details.
Tuesday Morning 18-Hole League
Ironwood Golf Club offers an 18-hole ladies club on Tuesday mornings. The league begins on April 30th with a breakfast and golf following. The Tuesday Morning Ladies League will consist of two choose-up formats and tournaments throughout the year and concluding September 24th. Choose-up formats will have a shotgun start and tournaments will utilize tee-times (typical start time is 8:30 AM). Choose-up game #1 is a best 3 balls of 4 net stableford point system. Choose-up game #2 is a 3-person blind draw (you don’t and can’t play with your partners). If there are 24 players in the choose-up that day, the person with low net receives 24 points, 2nd low net receives 23 points… Add up the points for all four people on your team. The team with the highest point total is the winner. The USGA Handicap is required to participate in the ladies club. Wednesday Working Gals 9-Hole League
Shotgun Start at 5:30 p.m. (Pace of Play Guidelines)
The Working Gals Golf League is open to ladies of all ages and skill levels. The 2019 season begins with an Opening Banquet on May 1 at Ironwood Golf Club and concludes on September 25 with an Awards Program and Dinner. Registration is $75 and includes the cost of two banquets, one taco night and weekly prizes. Play begins each Wednesday evening with a 5:30 shotgun start. Foursomes and games are organized each week by two Co-Chairs.
The three goals of the Working Gals Golf League are:
(1) Have fun and enjoy the camaraderie of both old and new friends;
(2) Understand and practice the rules and etiquette of the sport;
(3) Improve skills and scores.
Ladies play with the same partner each week, but the foursomes vary. This format allows golfers to meet different members from the league, compete equally for prizes, and play with golfers of various skill levels. Ladies joining for the first time may choose to find their own partner or to have one assigned.
Becoming a member of the Working Gals Golf League is a weekly commitment. Members are expected to play as many Wednesdays, May through September, as possible. If you are unable to play, members are asked to notify one of the Co-Chairs by text or email by 9 AM on Wednesday. Foursomes are set by noon.
Please feel free to text, phone or email Marilyn Marra (317)-777-3714 or email@example.com) for additional information or a registration form. Registration forms will be emailed during the first week of April.
